Idiopathic Inflammatory Myopathy
When muscle weakness takes over, even simple tasks can feel overwhelming, like standing up, climbing stairs, lifting your arms, or just getting through the day.
If you are living with dermatomyositis or polymyositis, you know this struggle.
Doctors are testing an investigational new cell-based therapy that may be able to help adults:
This cell-based therapy is with umbilical cord-derived modified progenitor cells, which can be infused in one hour. These cells are “off the shelf” and you do not need prior cell harvesting as with many CAR-T cells.
A Phase 1 study of this therapy has shown that it is well tolerated and also has provided evidence of improvement in the key endpoint of TIS (“total improvement score”) as well as steroid reduction.
